Crowd goes silent as Shreyas Iyer throws his wicket away while attempting a big shot in IND vs WI 2026 4th T20I
There was total silence at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad as India skipper Shreyas Iyer was dismissed in the fourth T20I against the West Indies. The hosts are chasing a massive target of 248 runs after bowling first.
After losing two quick wickets in Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, the onus was on skipper Shreyas Iyer to play a big innings. Unfortunately, he ended up throwing his wicket away trying to play a big shot. On the second delivery of the ninth over, Shamar Joseph bowled a full ball outside the off stump. Shreyas came forward to loft the ball over extra cover but sliced it to deep point. Jewel Andrew, who was at the position, came in and got low to take the catch safely.

It was a massive moment in the game with India chasing a huge total. Shreyas was trying to go too hard and ended up paying the price. He made just 16 runs off 11 balls with two boundaries, leaving the hosts at 97/3.
Back-to-back failures for Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer once again failed to get going. While he looked better in this game, it was another failure for him. The skipper had made just one run off two balls in the third T20I. When needed the most in a big chase, he could not lead from the front with the bat.
The right-hander had begun the series on a positive note with a brilliant unbeaten century. He had smashed 102* off just 43 balls with 10 fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 237.21. It was also his maiden T20I century.
Shreyas played a brilliant knock in the second game as well. He slammed a quickfire 40 off just 18 balls with three fours and as many sixes at a strike rate of 222.22. However, after the first two games, he has failed to build on the momentum and carry his form. In four matches, he has 159 runs at an average of 53.00 and a strike rate of 214.86. The skipper will be keen to bounce back with the bat in the final T20I.
